Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Only people who earn a lot of money are successful . Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
Given the choice between agreeing or disagreeing with the statement that only people who earn a lot of money are successful, I certainly disagree. It is believed that richness is one of the most important symbols nowadays to define whether a person succeeds or not, but I hold that money is not equal to success in the lifetime as two following reasons. First, it is a successful relationship that money cannot buy. For example, a boss leader of an international company may be good at business having himself or herself on the Forbes magazine, but he or she may never get along with his or her spouse and children since spending all family time on work. People unable to work on relationships can never be called successful, while their relatives see them as losers. Second, it is a successful character that has nothing to do with fortune. Take Mother Teresa as a good example. She devoted almost her whole life in Africain charity work helping poor residentsthe homeless children, the disaster victims, and the hungry all around the world. She appealed to worldwide attentions in Ethiopia. And people starving from birth have had her mercy they did not have on earth. She wore plain clothes and ate simple food. It goes without saying she didn’t do it for fame or fortune as a successful lady, but her kindness evoked all mankind pure and beautiful thoughts. In short, when it comes to talk about a successful person, there are so many things that count not only the ability of making money, but also the affections and spirits one brings. So I disagree with the statement that only people who earn a lot of money are successful .

In addition, the definition of success can take many forms, it could be winning the Olympic gold medal, or to improve the living quality of mankind. Take Mother Theresa as a good example…
In addition, success can take many forms
I suppose that Mother Teresa devoted most of her life in India....
shame on me...
your vegetable English is very delicious!
Are you hungry from birth too? XD

What is "successful"? Why we need to be successful?
XD Given the statement that only people who earn a lot of money are successful, I strongly agree. It is believed that richness is an important element to determine a person’s success. I am affirmative on this statement for the following two reasons. First, the more you earn the higher position you are in society. For example, Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, who has often been referred to as a successful business magnate on the magazines and newspapers. Gates is one of the world’s richest people. No one would ever question that Gates, the wealthiest man in the world isn’t successful. We are living in a materialistic society. Money is an indispensable element of earning living nowadays. University students prefer having professional qualifications not just because they can earn more money if they become lawyers, doctors or engineers and also they get more respect from others if they become a professional. In employment, it is not uncommon to switch jobs for a few extra dollars. Wealthy does equal success in the materialistic world. Second, people who earn more money are more powerful than others and hence more successful in their fields. Take Angelina Jolie as an example, Jolie achieved international fame as a result of her roles in major films and she is one of the best-known and highest-paid actresses in the world. Jolie became personally aware of worldwide humanitarian crises and has devoted herself in charity work. She donated millions of dollars to various charity organizations. Money has made Jolie become a powerful and influential person. It has made her success not only in her acting career and also in her charity work. Overall, when it comes to determine a successful person, there are so many elements that count. Undoubtedly, making good money is certainly the main and the most important element among all. Hence I agree with the statement that only people who earn a lot of money are successful.
English writing's not your strong point. Keep practicing~
所以是說不可以講First of all嗎?

Usage Note: It is well established that either first or firstly can be used to begin an enumeration: Our objectives are, first (or firstly), to recover from last year's slump. Any succeeding items should be introduced by words parallel to the form that is chosen, as in first . . . second . . . third or firstly . . . secondly . . . thirdly. 取自the free dictionary.
而且不知道大家是否覺得第三段it is a sucessful character that has ... 建議可以把has nothing to do with改成outweighs。整句可變化成:what overweighs fortune is one's sucessful character。
我的邏輯比較偏向於; 同意/不同意-->定義sucess-->people who earn a lot money 符不符合-->結論.
我看到非常熟悉的template, given that...lol
例: 第一段的結尾完全沒有內容.(and that is suppose to be your thesis statement) 而且,我覺得有點離題了. 還有,北美根本就不流行用first,second,thirdly (with or without"ly") 更不流行的是"nowadays" 我高中用的時候就被教訓語義不明.
I disagree with this statement. Because if any other animal other than people can earn a lot of money, it's successful too.
